Welcome to The Town of Barnstable!
Controlled Burn in West Barnstable Conservation Area -- Late March through early June 2019
Please be advised that parts of the trail system at West Barnstable Conservation Area may be temporarily closed for up to 24 hours during the period from late March 2019 through early June 2019. This temporary closure is being implemented in order to conduct a controlled burn that will help restore the pitch pine-oak woodland habitat. Any closures will be centered on an area bounded by Popple Bottom Road to the north, Crooked Cartway to the east and Old Mill Road to the west. Temporary trail closed signs will be placed at key trail junctures on the day of the scheduled burn. In order to promote public safety, all users of the trail system are asked to be aware of, and respect, these closures and to stay away from active burn areas. Please contact the Barnstable Conservation program at (508) 862-4093, if you have questions about this project or the use of prescribed burns for habitat management.
